Plexiform Pulmonary Artery
Carlyne D. Cool (UCD), Jane Parr (UCD)

Light microscopy, magnification 200x
Patients with pulmonary hypertension develop complex vascular lesions that block their small pulmonary arteries. This photomicrograph of a pentachrome-stained of a lung section from a patient with pulmonary hypertension shows a pulmonary artery that is almost completely closed. The multiple colors indicate the complexity and varying cellular constituents of this lesion.
